Experiment
I was coming home from a weekend outing and we started talking about the high cost of cable. I had been talking about this a lot in the office recently, and I was surprised at the number of people who already started to look into this. We were all using the same cable provider although we all lived in various towns very far apart. Like others a few of us looked into ditching “triple play”, where you get TV, Phone and Internet and looked into just getting TV and Internet. In all of our cases, this did not drop our cable bill. One person was going to just get Internet and switch to satellite TV. The rest of us were wondering if we could just get by with only the internet. Where we live, antenna TV was not really an option since we live too far from any transmitter. I might do some more research, but for now this has been ruled out.
I already have a subscription to Hulu and that seems to have many of the shows I like. Summertime will be here shortly and for me that is Big Brother season. As a huge fan, I get the CBS All Access so I can watch Big Brother 24/7 (no comments please). Can I use this as a launching point to ditch cable? I am going to try for the next few months not to use my Cable TV and see how it goes. If it goes well, I will ditch cable.
Let’s see how it turns out.
