Starting Again
I had Indigo Home Automation for years but my Insteon Controller would keep dying and need to be replaced with frequent blackouts. I decided to switch to HomeSeer awhile ago, first to their Windows implementation and then to HomeTroller. I never fully was able to move everything over.
Recently I tried to add a Wave water detector and wasn’t able to add it to HomeSeer or Indigo and decided to give Home Assistant a try. I did a few attempts with VM installs trying different features, wiping the VM and then trying other features. It looks promising so I am going to try to move over to it
Working from home all of theses months, my networks doesn’t seem great and my VOIP seems a bit erratic. I decided to total redo my network. I had moved to an EdgeMax router a few years ago so I decided to move to the Ubiquti Dream Machine Pro , an upgrade with the same company.
These two major tasks are actually related. It is also tied to Apple moving from the Intel chip because I am thinking about switching to a Linux based house.
This will be the journey through these changes. I expect a lot of lessons learned
